Who came up with the idea that seven is a lucky number? It’s tough to imagine that 7 years ago, we made the leap to move to Spain. What was the genesis of this crazy idea? Read on…
Why come to Costa Tropical Spain? Where is that? Everyone knows about the coasts with the big cities Costa Blanca, Costa del Sol, Costa Dorada (Alicante, Malaga, Barcelona, Valencia), but not many know about Costa Tropical. That’s why it’s one of the best places to live in Spain! Shhh, don’t tell anyone! With coast, mountains, sea, mild winters and more.
Updated: It’s all still true as of November 2019!
We lived along the beautiful southern coast of Spain from August 2012, with a trip to Asia in the mix too. In Spain, we live in a small town named Almuñécar and we use this as our home base to explore more of Europe as well. We kept track of every expenditure along the way the first couple of year and have shared our cost of living in Spain with you. This page is a compilation of our expenses in Spain and how much it really costs for our family of 4 to live in Spain. We have more recent updates included too.
Dreaming of something different? How about living in Spain for a year? Perhaps a gap year in Spain is what you need? Does this sound like you?
There you are living a wonderful life with both parents working and the kids are in school. Your afternoons and evenings are spent running around from activity to event and driving from one location to another. Sometimes you need to have a quick meal out, as there just isn’t enough time to cook a meal at home. Once you arrive home, it is time to do a bit of cleaning, have the kids finish their homework, and have a little bit of time together as a family. Time to go to bed and start it all again tomorrow.
Six years ago we moved to Spain with suitcases and backpacks, ready to start our adventure and live in Spain for a year or two. That was it! That was the plan! Here we are after six years, with so many life changing experiences, memories and stories.
As you know, our move to Spain started with a career break, taking a sabbatical, planning a family gap year, or whatever you want to call it. After 5 years of travel, it has now officially turned into a travel lifestyle. Yes, we now have the lifestyle of the open-ended traveler with a home base in Spain.
- How did you go from Career Break to Lifestyle?
- How do you make money online? (C’mon this is the real question you want answered, right?)
- When are you returning to the USA?
Just as years past, 2016 has been full of fun, adventure, and work for the Wagoner Family. We thought we would take a little trip down memory lane with you and share yet another epic year abroad. Every single day we are so happy with our decision to become self-made expats. We took control of our lives and stopped waiting for something to happen or someone to give us a break. We created and designed our own family travel lifestyle over 4 years ago and we plan to keep it going!
Who is sitting at work right now, feeling stuck, not knowing if you will be the next to be let go? Or perhaps you have so much stress you can’t think straight. It is time to take the bull by the horns and be in control of your life and your dreams.
We quit our jobs over 3 1/2 years ago and haven’t missed it for one minute. We have designed our freedom lifestyle and today we feature Nicole, who has gone above and beyond with her freedom lifestyle design.
I want you all to take a minute to read through her story and take advantage of what she offers from her experiences. It is time for you to be in control and live life, rather than exist in it. Her tools are perfect for someone wanting to start their own business, work from home or anywhere in the world/ That is freedom and this is the real deal!
Nicole is living proof we can all be in control of our own lives. We met Nicole online, as a fellow traveler, and admire how she has created a location independent life. Continue on to read her story and learn how you can live the life of your dreams too!
As I sit here writing in Cambodia, a million thoughts are swirling through my mind. Notice I didn’t say “flowing”. Nope they aren’t even running through my head. They are actually swishing back and forth, churning and swirling around like a washing machine. Of course it isn’t just with me, it’s the same for Alan as well. So what is going on in our minds? We are trying to figure out what is next for Wagoners Abroad?
