The Almuñécar Friday Market

I just love Friday’s around our town of Almuñécar. It was dark when I awoke this morning, about 7:30am, and I went upstairs to check email and begin my day. Just out our picture window/ sliding glass doors, is our awesome view of San Cristóbal Beach.  An added bonus every morning is our view of a spectacular sunrise. Today was no exception,as nature was there to paint a perfectly colorful picture for me once again.
Almuñécar sunrise over San Cristóbal BeachFriday tends to be a day of activity in Almuñécar.  The weekend arrives and tourists begin to appear.  There is an extra special buzz and energy in the air and it is also the day of the town open air market, (The Almuñécar Friday Market).

Almuñécar Friday Market

The market’s real name is “Mercadillo Los Viernes” (The Almunecar Friday Market).  The entrance right in the heart of the town at the “Arc de Triomphe Puerta de Almuñécar and lies between the main road (N-340) and the one and only “McDonald’s”.  Though it is advertised the market is open between 9:00 and 14:00, It really doesn’t get going until closer to 10am.

Today, I thought I would let you have a feel for the market yourself and made a quick little video for you to see.  You will find over 200 stalls to explore, with everything from music to spices, kitchen wares, clothing, fresh flowers, shoes, souvenirs, fresh honey and much more.  So if you are in Costa Tropical Spain, plan to visit The Almuñécar Friday Market.
