The food options in the Nimman area are endless, but we just want to share our favorite places to eat in Chiang Mai with you. Much of what we have listed is in the Nimman area, as that is where we lived for 3 months.
Family Friendly Places To Eat In Chiang Mai Thailand

These aren’t really listed in any order, but our number one go to place was Blessed Food.
- Blessed Food
- Overview: Yummy, clean, inexpensive and AC. The best of everything and the service is great too. Very high quality of ingredients used.
- Food Type: Thai Food, Salads and Shakes
- Location: Nimman Soi 6
- Prices: 35 – 80 Baht ($1.10 – $2.60)
- Why Not?
The front is on Nimman soi 13 and the back is Nimman soi 11 - Overview: YUM! What can we say, we love “Why Not?” This is wonderful Italian food, a Caesar salad to die for with huge shavings of fresh Parmesan chesse. Alan and the kids love the huge pizza too.
- Food Type:Authentic Italian and Pizza
- Location: Nimman Soi 13 (front) or Soi 11 (back)
- Prices: 80 – 300 Baht ( $2.75 – $10.00)
- Pasta dishes are about $5 and up
- 18″ margherita pizza is 210 Baht ($7), toppings are extra (pepperoni is 65 Baht – $2)
- Salads are 90 – 200 Baht ($3-$7). The Caesar salad is to die for! The small is 95 Baht and it is not small at all. Very large portions with homemade dressing and big shavings of fresh Parmesan cheese!
- Salad Concept
- Overview: This is a build your own salad place and very fresh and delicious. The prices are great and so are the smoothies!
- Food Type: Salads and Wraps
- Location: Corner of Nimman and Soi 13
- Prices: standard salad with 5 toppings 69 Baht ($2.10). Specialty salads are a bit more.
- Burmese Library
- Overview: This is a little hole in the wall place, that makes some great food. It is always busy and very inexpensive.
- Food Type: traditional Thai or Burmese
- Location: Located next to the 7-11 off of Nimman Soi 8’N
(between Soi 6 & 8 across from Soi 13) - Prices: 35-60 Baht ($1-$2)
- Miguel’s Cafe
- Overview – This is hands down our favorite Mexican food in Chiang Mai. It is likely because it is the style we grew up with on the west coast of the US. Good quality meats, food, and homemade tortillas!
- Food Type: Mexican Baja style
- Location: Along the outer moat road, on the northeast corner of the old city.
- Prices: 70-300 Baht ($2.20 -$10)
- Salsa Kitchen
- Overview – There are 2 camps on the Mexican food front in Chiang Mai. You are either a Salsa Kitchen fan or a Miguel’s fan. We like Salsa Kitchen and most of our friends choose it, but we are still Miguel’s fan favorites.
- Food Type: Mexican more TexMex style, with loads of condiments, sauces and salsa
- Location: Huay Kaew Rd between Maya Lifestyle and Central Shopping Center (NW corner of moat)
- Prices: 90-300 Baht ($3 -$10)
- Subway
- Overview When we need that quick fix for an American sandwich, we head to subway. They have daily specials that are a good price, but the deli turkey is very expensive. It is much cheaper to have sliced chicken.
- Food Type: Sub Sandwiches
- Location: On Nimman Soi 8
- Prices: 69-200 Baht ($2.10 -$7)
- Organic Foods
- Overview: This is a little hole in the wall place, that makes some great fried rice. It is more like a wild rice and is delicious and fresh. It is always busy and very inexpensive.
- Food Type: traditional Thai with organic veggies
- Location: Next to the Burmese Library, located next to the 7-11 off of Nimman Soi 8’N
(between Soi 6 & 8 across from Soi 13) - Prices: 35-60 Baht ($1-$2)
