It’s that time of year again and we are starting to plot and plan to create the best European Christmas vacation. This time we are looking for a little input from you as well. We will share our circumstances and requirements with you, as well as what is currently on the table for choices. Feel free to comment on our choices or add more to the list for us!
When we mentioned to a good friend we were going to be visiting Aberdeen, she was so excited. Of course she mentioned all of the standard sights to see, but there was also one special place which was a must see. It sounded adorable and apparently is one of the best tiny house villages around.
Hi Guys!! It’s time for Christmas in Edinburgh!
For the holidays of 2016 we spent Christmas in Edinburgh with my Grandma! I had such a nice time. My favorite thing that we did was the Christmas Market rides on Princes Street and the street of lights. I love things like that. We also went on a ghost tour, had fun at Edinburgh Castle and played at Camera Obscura. Everything we did was full of fun, even though it was cold outside. We even had fun on the Scotch Whisky Experience.
Our Christmas holiday in Scotland would not be complete without a stupendous meal to go along with all of the great memories we’ve had while in Edinburgh. We were fortunate to eat at Kyloe Restaurant & Grill, and let me tell you it was definitely memorable.
Living in southern Spain we do get a feel for Christmas and the holidays, but this year we decided to head to Scotland for the holidays. We wanted an authentic Edinburgh Christmas with all of the markets, music, activities, food, & lights. Of course along with that, we were also expecting chilly and rainy weather, but we also had a bit of a surprise!
Well another year has passed and we are still living in Spain! That is exciting for us, as we never dreamed we would be able to keep it going. We just wanted to provide you with a quick little update with no frills attached!
Who in the world would take an Ireland vacation in the winter?
We would! We had the opportunity to house and pet-sit in Dublin, over the holiday school break, so it was a no-brainer for us. We were going to be spending a full week in the suburbs of Dublin, but we decided to add on an extra week of fun vacation time in Southern Ireland. Yes the land of County Cork and County Kerry!
I don’t remember when I heard about the famed Blarney Stone, but I was probably in elementary school. But do you know WHY the Blarney Stone is famous, and WHY you’re supposed to kiss it? If you’re like me, I didn’t know the WHY either. But that has changed recently. Before I get into the details, let’s me give you a run-down of the history of not only the Blarney Stone, but the castle and grounds that are associated with it.
The other day Anya was requesting that we have a traditional Christmas at home. She continued by explaining she wanted it to be cold, with snow, a big decorated Christmas tree, and loads of our family. While I know I’ve had plenty of Christmas experiences with all of that, I realized she hadn’t. We have experienced Christmas vacations “away” from our home for most of her life and only a couple of times with snow.
