We were fortunate enough to experience two different resorts during our week-long visit to Langkawi. Langkawi is made up of a cluster of 99 islands, which are all part of the UNESCO World Geopark as of 2007. The first few nights we were at the Meritus Pelangi and our last few nights we had the pleasure of experiencing something a bit different. We stayed at the Berjaya Langkawi Resort in a rainforest! Who wouldn’t want to stay in a tropical rainforest right?
So far I have traveled to 50+ countries in my lifetime and I have to say, I fell in love with the nature and beauty in Langkawi, Malaysia. Shhh, don’t tell anyone else about these awesome things to do in Langkawi. I am almost hesitant to tell you about it, as I don’t want tourism to spoil what we have experienced.
As we have spent the past several months exploring Southeast Asia, we kept hearing people mention how beautiful it was in Langkawi, Malaysia. If at all possible, we were going to try to make it to this island to test it out on our own. After spending over a month in Southern Thailand it was time to make our move to Malaysia.
I originally planned to take the ferry from Phuket, Thailand to Langkawi, Malaysia. After some thought, I realized the family just wasn’t going to be up for a full day on the ferry and we found extremely inexpensive flights from Krabi to Penang. A new plan was hatched based on the deals we found. I know you are wondering, “So how did you get to Langkawi?”
After spending a little more than 7 months exploring Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, it was time to head south to Malaysia. We spent nearly 2 months in Malaysia and stayed in all types of accommodation, hotels, hostels, apartments, and homes. We were also scoping this area out as a potential long-term residence, in the future. This was the last couple of months in our Southeast Asia tour, so we were a bit tired of moving fast and were looking for a few options to help slow us down. We also spent 2 nights in Singapore, which we will include at the end.
We thoroughly enjoyed all of the nature when visiting Langkawi Malaysia. Check this out and you will fall in love too. Eagles soaring, Bats, Monkeys, gorgeous blue waters and more. Let us know what you think!
