We are often asked about our Spain cost of living compared to the USA. You know, the cost of daily life, to just live and do what you want to do. This was a question that came to us in our post – What Do You Want To Know or Have Us Show?
Before moving to Spain, we thought that the cost of living in Europe was going to be expensive. Of course we had our doubts that we would be able to live on the budget we set for our family of 4. We made it happen and with the right choices you can too. From 2012 to 2020!
As you know, our move to Spain started with a career break, taking a sabbatical, planning a family gap year, or whatever you want to call it. After years of travel, it has now officially turned into a travel lifestyle. Yes, we now have the lifestyle of the open-ended traveler with a home base in Spain.
How did you go from Career Break to Lifestyle?
How do you make money online? (C’mon this is the real question you want answered, right?)
I know this is what you have been waiting for, because people are actually contacting us and asking. Of course we always share it all with you and that includes exactly what we are spending. I haven’t done a budget post since leaving Spain, as I have been trying to figure out our routine and get a handle on things.
It is time to talk money, money, money! Oh how I love doing these.
Why do we share our budget and actual spend with you? We hope it helps as a guide in case you are planning to live or vacation in Spain or visit any of the other destination we visit. Again, everything is different for each family, based on your lifestyle and choices, so this is only a guide. Plus, it seems that some of you like to read them too, so that is good.
I can’t believe we have been living in Spain for 19 months and are still pretty much on track with our budget. In this post we will show you Quarter 1 (January – March 2014) Actual Spend. Continue reading →
Can you believe we have been expats in Spain for 18 months?! It is absolutely amazing how fast the time has flown by. We are in “just normal life” here and for us Almuñécar has been the best place to live in Spain. No matter where we travel, upon return, our choice is validated with that comfortable feeling of home.
So you’ve decided you are moving abroad, or even better, you are moving to Spain?
We are often contacted by Couples, Families and Travelers planning their move to Spain. For some it is open-ended and for others it is for a couple of months, so they follow that Schengen Visa rule. Either way they ask the same questions:
How in the world is time flying by so fast? I can’t believe we have been living in Spain for 16 months and are still on track with our budget. In this post we will show you Quarter 4 (October – December 2013) Actual Spend. In the past we have shared our budget of $100/day for the family of 4. The main reason for stating it that way vs. $3000 a month is there are a few months that have 31 days. I know that doesn’t seem like much, but I am just trying to be sure we give you an accurate representation of what we are spending. Continue reading →
