If it’s one thing I’ve learned traveling, it’s that electronics are essential. The follow-on corollary is keeping track of your power adaptor and power cables is critical. No power, no electronics. It’s that simple. So I was fortunate to come across a couple of products which help keep the power/power cables organized. They are called CableKeeps from a company called Nice by Design. This product review will cover the Nibbles (for the iPad), and Goldie (for the iPhone).
First up is the Nibbles for the iPad. This handy device not only keeps the power adaptor and associated cable handy, it keeps them organized. I don’t know how many times I’ve had the cable and no power adaptor, or I had the adaptor, and no cable. Nibbles is up to the task of keeping them together and avoiding a tangled cable.
I like that the critter (it looks like a fish with sharp teeth) protects the power adaptor, but does it with style. The bright color stands out, which is important when you’re moving around, and packing and unpacking gear a lot. Black and white cables tend to fade into the background, but not Nibbles.
The cable management part of this solution allows you to anchor the cable safely so that it stays in place. It’s a well thought-out design.
Goldie is another “fish” (I think it looks like a whale, but the kids disagreed) which works for the iPhone power adaptor. Like its brother, it organizes the power adaptor and cable, keeping things nice and neat.
It’s got a hard, but flexible colorful shell which protects the power adaptor, and the nifty thing about this guy is that the tail acts as a shelf. This may not seem like much, but I don’t know how many times I’ve seen people charging their phones in airports, with the phone on the ground! (My fellow travelers, you should not do this!)
Both CableKeeps are small in size, so they can be readily packed away, and I’ll keep harping on it, but they keep the adaptors/cables together and organized. If you’re looking for a fun and colorful way to keep your adaptors with your cables, then the Nice CableKeeps are a great solution.
