I have to admit I have been a little gun-shy over the past several months with writing for the blog. Yes, we have been doing some here and there, but nowhere near how we used to keep you up to date. Recently I have been reflecting on a few things and I’ve been amazed at the self discovery and thoughts.
When the gift giving season is upon us, sometimes it can be a challenge to find that perfect gift for your special someone who already has everything. This is when you really need to dig deep and try to figure out what type of give will be meaningful and not just something to clutter their home. When I think of the holidays, I always think of fun family party games! When I was growing up, in a household with 6 kids, every holiday was full of energy, games, and entertainment. Sometimes we would be out on the driveway playing basketball, or football on the front lawn, but indoors we would always enjoy family games. Charades, Pictionary, and Trivial Pursuit were always favorites of mine.
Each night, we sit in our living room and have a spectacular view of the Mediterranean Sea. While it is dark, off in the distance we see lights passing by. These are often cruise ships or some other type of ship making their way from one place to another. It is also symbolic of our daily life and our travel lifestyle.

The unexpected gift which turned into a magical treasure for Anya. Two years ago, on Anya’s 9th birthday, we were invited over to our neighbors for a special homemade dessert to celebrate her birthday. These are friends we’ve made since living in Spain and we have just connected with them on so many levels. They are a young couple and had a newborn baby, but we all just connected.

I am sitting here in the heat of summer, melting away and trying to plan activities for this winter. I promised the family we would experience snow this winter, so I am using it as an exercise to help my mind go to a cooler place. It isn’t working! We haven’t taken the kids on a ski trip for about 4 years. It think it was our trip to Wintergreen Virginia in February 2011. Look how small the kids were! So, it is time to hit the snow again.
Usually each year we have some epic travel plans in store for you. Summer of 2013 we shared our 6 week European Road Trip with you. Summer 2014 we became a nomadic family and “lived” on a houseboat in Amsterdam, enjoyed a 3 week Road Trip in Europe, then made the big leap over to a life in Southeast Asia.
