After spending a little more than 7 months exploring Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, it was time to head south to Malaysia. We spent nearly 2 months in Malaysia and stayed in all types of accommodation, hotels, hostels, apartments, and homes. We were also scoping this area out as a potential long-term residence, in the future. This was the last couple of months in our Southeast Asia tour, so we were a bit tired of moving fast and were looking for a few options to help slow us down. We also spent 2 nights in Singapore, which we will include at the end.
Singapore is a wonderful place to visit, as it is so clean and organized. That does however come at a price, so be a bit prepared for a little sticker shock, as Singapore is expensive. That doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the country for a little bit. We had a wonderful 48 hours in Singapore with kids. We want to share what we have learned with you so you can get ideas of things to do in Singapore with kids and a couple of options on where to stay.
As we’ve talked about before, Heidi and I are scuba divers (we even met during a dive trip). We love being underwater, and experiencing a completely different environment. The kids are big fans of snorkeling, so all of us were ready for a day of fun at the SEA Aquarium. Technically it’s the S.E.A. Aquarium, and it stands for Southeast Asia, but you get the drift.
